Are We Creators? Do We Truly Have Free Will?
Many people on the path of self-discovery eventually ask themselves: Am I really the creator of my reality? Why doesn't it seem to work? Why is it so hard to manifest what I want?
At the heart of these questions lies an even deeper one: do we actually have free will, or are we simply following a script that was written beforehand?
The answer isn't a simple yes or no, because we are deeply conditioned by unconscious patterns. From the moment we arrive in this life, we come with a kind of blueprint, a draft of experiences, lessons and challenges that shape our journey. Our wounds, our fears and even our strengths are already present in us, carried from past experiences, from the memory of our ancestors and from deeper spiritual imprints.
So when we talk about creation, we first have to ask: who is doing the creating?
If we are unconscious, lost in old wounds, programmed reactions and social conditioning, then our so-called free will is largely an illusion. Many of us don't truly choose freely, because we aren't aware of the forces shaping our choices. We don't know that we don't know.
We live in a kind of dream, reacting rather than choosing, following patterns we never consciously set for ourselves. And when we try to "create" our reality, it often doesn't work. "I tried the law of attraction, and it doesn't work." "I repeat affirmations, and nothing changes." "I visualize my dream life, and it never comes."
Why does this happen? Because creation doesn't come from forcing change on the surface. It comes from awareness and integration at the deepest level.
The Illusion of Control and the Power of Presence
Many people believe that creating means controlling reality, making things happen and forcing life into a particular shape. But that kind of control is an illusion. True creation comes not from control, but from awareness, from being fully present with what is.
Healing and creating are deeply linked. To heal, we have to bring our wounds and the fragmented parts of ourselves into the present, because it is only in the present that we have the power to transform them. When we integrate what was hidden in the unconscious, it no longer controls us. Instead, we gain power over it.
Imagine looking into a mirror covered in dust. That dust is made of illusions, old wounds and layers of unconscious programming. If the mirror is dirty, we can't see ourselves clearly, and if we can't see clearly, how can we create with clarity?
The act of observing, of truly seeing, already begins to change things. When we see something for what it is, we bring light to it, and through that light, it transforms.
Why It's So Hard to Create
Much of what we believe to be true isn't actually true. We have been conditioned by cultural pressures, inherited beliefs and ideas about who we should be. Over time, these outside influences shape the way we see ourselves and place masks over our true essence. Instead of living as who we really are, we play roles written by our unconscious programming.
This is why so many people struggle with the law of attraction. They are told, "Just believe," but they can't. Not because they are weak, but because their unconscious beliefs contradict their conscious desires. The mind may be saying "I am abundant," while a deeply buried wound whispers "I am not worthy." And in that moment, the unconscious always wins.
To truly create, we first have to heal. We have to bring what is unconscious to the surface, not by rejecting it, but by observing it, understanding it and integrating it.
Returning to Wholeness
True freedom comes through knowing ourselves and through our connection with the Divine. Saint Augustine wrote that our heart is restless until it rests in God. I understand our unconsciousness in a similar way: as a kind of separation, a forgetting of our true nature. When we are disconnected from that wholeness, we live fragmented lives. But when we return to awareness, when we remember, we heal.
Healing means bringing back together the parts of ourselves that were separated. It means dissolving illusions, seeing what is real and surrendering to truth. It isn't about erasing the past, but about integrating it, transforming our experiences by bringing light to them. When we stop playing roles and begin to live from our essence, we become conscious creators.
Creation Happens Now
Creation isn't about waiting for some future outcome or forcing things into existence. Creation happens now.
When we see reality as it is, when we clean the mirror and integrate the parts of ourselves that were scattered, we naturally begin to create from a place of truth. This isn't magic; it is the natural result of awareness. When we are unconscious, we create from our wounds and attract experiences that reflect our unresolved pain. When we become conscious, we create from clarity and attract a life that reflects our true essence.
This is the path, this is healing, and this is true freedom. And this is how we become the creators of our own lives.
